Extended lifecycle support for Oracle® Linux 6 lasts through March 2025.

Applying CloudLinux Extended Lifecycle Support to your Oracle® Linux 6 instances requires running a single command that changes key repositories’ location. Full implementation instructions will be provided when servers are registered with CloudLinux.

No. You are not migrating your operating system or making any substantive changes to the way your workload is handled. Enabling Extended Lifecycle Support from CloudLinux involves a simple change in the location of repositories. There is no downtime and no need to restart your servers. Activating CloudLinux Extended Lifecycle Support will not degrade your Oracle® Linux 6 server performance, or disrupt your operations.

The Linux kernel of your Oracle® Linux 6 distribution will be updated with key maintenance and security patches. We will also issue updates for critical packages such as Glibc, OpenSSH, OpenSSL, and zlib. httpd, MySQL, PHP, and userspace packages will also be supported. Other supported packages include: acl, acpid, at, attr, audit, authconfig, basesystem, bash, bc, blktrace, bridge-utils, busybox, bzip2, crash, cyrus-imapd, cyrus-sasl, db4-utils, device-mapper, dhclient, dhcpv6, dmidecode, dos2unix, dovecot, ed, gcc, gd, gdb, glib2, groff, info, Iptstate, logrotate, lslk, lvm2, makedev, nfs4-acl-tools, nfs-utils, nspr, ntp, opensp, pam, perl, procmail, procps, python, rcs, rds-tools, rhnlib, rsync, rsyslog, setroubleshoot, setserial, setup, sos, stunnel, tzdata, vim, wget, yum-metadata-parser, yum-rhn-plugin.

For 1-499 servers running Oracle® Linux 6 or CentOS® 6, it’s $6 per server per month or $60 per server per year with an annual subscription.
For 500+ servers, it’s $3.60 per server per month or $36 per server per year with an annual subscription.

Billing will start the month after usage begins.

No, you will continue to rely on your preferred operating system. We will just continue updating the packages for the operating system you love with security fixes that keep your OS environment safe and secure.

CloudLinux continuously monitors critical Linux kernel vulnerabilities and security concerns associated with Oracle® Linux 6. We will endeavour to release patches for security risks and general maintenance issues as soon as any issues are identified.

Before each package goes into the production repository, we run several testing processes to verify that our update has zero unintended consequences. We also maintain a stable beta repository that we use for testing.

KernelCare would automatically roll out any kernel patches and apply them in memory. However, if you prefer to patch manually, you can simply continue to do so using yum as you usually would.
